The role of sodium bicarbonate in feed grade
Using sodium bicarbonate as feed additive for poultry can effectively improve the digestibility, utilization rate and energy conversion of feed for poultry. Accelerating the absorption and utilization of nutrients and the excretion of harmful substances has a significant effect on improving the anti-stress ability of poultry and promoting growth, increasing egg production and improving eggshell quality. Product introduction is as follows:
Animal health function
A. improve the ability to resist heat stress
In summer high temperature, poultry is often affected by external heat stress due to its own poor heat dissipation function. When the ambient temperature rises to more than 35ºC, poultry hot panting intensifies, exhales a lot of CO2, and reduces the alkali content in the blood. Adding 0.1% ~ 0.5% sodium bicarbonate in the feed can effectively improve the PH value in the blood, increase the alkaline, so as to contribute to the normal work of the endocrine system under stress and relieve heat stress.
B. Regulate the acid-base balance of the body
Sodium bicarbonate is one of the most common pH regulators in the body. Adding sodium bicarbonate to diets helps to strengthen the body's buffer. Usually poultry feed with corn as the main raw material, accounting for about 60% of the diet, so in the process of metabolism inevitably produce acid substances. Sodium bicarbonate can neutralize gastric acid, dissolve mucus, reduce the viscosity of digestive fluid, and enhance gastrointestinal absorption, play a role in strengthening the stomach, inhibiting acid and promoting appetite. At the same time, after the absorption of sodium bicarbonate into the blood by the gastrointestinal tract, it can neutralize the acidic substances in the blood, thus reducing the acidity of the blood and maintaining the acid-base balance of various body fluids.
C,.improve egg production rate and eggshell strength
The normal concentrations of carbonate and sodium and phosphorus in poultry blood are the key factors to ensure the quality of eggshells. Sodium bicarbonate can improve the mobility of phosphorus in eggs and ensure that the concentration of phosphorus in blood is maintained at the optimal level necessary for the formation of eggshells. In hot summer, due to a large amount of CO2 exhaled by poultry, the concentration of carbonate in the blood decreases correspondingly, so that the calcium carbonate forming the main component of eggshell can not be guaranteed, resulting in a decline in eggshell quality and a significant increase in substandard eggs. It has been proved that adding 0.2% sodium bicarbonate to the diet of laying hens in summer (the total dietary bicarbonate is 0.38%) can timely replenish the blood carbonate ions, and significantly improve the laying rate, eggshell quality and feed conversion rate of hens (p<0.01).
D. Prevention of disease and reduction of toxic side effects of drugs
Adding 0.1% ~ 0.5% sodium bicarbonate to feed has obvious effect on raising broiler carcass grade and gaining weight. It can significantly reduce the mortality of broilers, and reduce the incidence of ascites, pleurisy, gastroenteritis and other gastrointestinal diseases. When sodium bicarbonate and sulfonamides are used together, the solubility of sulfonamides in urine can be effectively increased, so as to reduce the adverse effects of these drugs on poultry kidney and reduce the toxic side effects of drugs on poultry body.

Application of baking soda in pig feed:
Baking soda is cheap and versatile, and is often used in pig farms. Pig blood is weakly alkaline, its pH is between 7.35 and 7.45, and regular use of baking soda will play a healthy role in pig health.
Its functions and uses are as follows:
1, stomach strengthening: Add 0.3% baking soda in the feed has a good stomach strengthening effect, enhance appetite, promote digestion. At the same time, it can buffer the irritative effect of gastric acid on gastric mucosa, and has certain preventive and therapeutic effect on gastric ulcer of pig. The sodium ions contained in baking soda have the effect of increasing appetite.
2. Laxative: Adding 0.5% baking soda to the feed can stimulate intestinal peristalsis and strengthen the role of water flowing into the intestine. Therefore, when mild constipation occurs in pigs, baking soda can be used for treatment. Especially when pregnant sows are constipated and cannot use strong laxatives, baking soda is the preferred purging drug. For sows restricted to feed in the second and third trimester of pregnancy, baking soda should be added frequently to prevent constipation and reduce the increase in body temperature of sows.
3, anti-stress: baking soda is an important alkali store in the body, the ratio of carbonic acid and sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) in the blood is 1 to 20, if beyond this range, the body will appear disease. On hot summer days, baking soda increases the level of bicarbonate ions in the blood and prevents respiratory acidosis. At the same time, baking soda can adjust the body's crystal osmotic pressure, which plays an important role in maintaining the electrolyte balance of body fluids. Therefore, baking soda has a good anti-stress effect, especially anti-heat stress, and vitamin C (not mixed together) applied at the same time, anti-heat stress effect is better.
