Sodium bicarbonate (sodium bicarbonate), is an inorganic compound in the form of white crystalline powder, odorless, salty, and easily soluble in water. It decomposes slowly in moist air or hot air, producing carbon dioxide, and decomposes completely when heated to 270°C. In case of acid, it will decompose strongly and produce carbon dioxide.
Sodium bicarbonate is widely used in analytical chemistry, inorganic synthesis, industrial production, agricultural and animal husbandry production, etc.

Sodium Bicarbonate is widely used and can be divided into the following five application types:
1.Industrial applications:
(1)Production of acid-base fire extinguishers and foam fire extinguishers.
(2)Sodium bicarbonate can be used in rubber and sponge production in the rubber industry.
(3)In the metallurgical industry, sodium bicarbonate can be used as a flux for casting steel ingots.
(4)In the machinery industry, sodium bicarbonate can be used as a molding aid for cast steel (foundation) sand molds.
(5)In the printing and dyeing industry, sodium bicarbonate can be used as a color-fixing agent for dyeing and printing, an acid-base buffer, and a post-treatment agent for fabric dyeing and finishing; adding baking soda to the dyeing can prevent yarn bobbins from producing color patterns, and can also be used for washing wool agent.
2.Medical use:
(1)Can be directly used as raw material in the pharmaceutical industry.
(2)Sodium Bicarbonate can be used as a pharmaceutical raw material for the treatment of hyperacidity, metabolic acidosis, and alkalinization of urine to prevent uric acid kidney stones.
(3)It can also reduce the nephrotoxicity of sulfonamides, prevent hemoglobin from depositing in the renal tubules during acute hemolysis, and treat symptoms caused by hyperacidity; intravenous infusion has non-specific effects on barbiturates, salicylic acid drugs, and methanol poisoning. Therapeutic effect.
3.Food processing:
(1)It is one of the most widely used loosening agents for the production of biscuits, bread, etc.
(2)It is the generator of carbon dioxide in soda drinks.
(3)Can be used as a butter preservative.
(4)It can be used as a color protectant for fruits and vegetables in vegetable processing.
4.Laboratory use:
(1)Can be used as analytical reagent, also used in inorganic synthesis.
(2)Can be used to prepare sodium carbonate-sodium bicarbonate buffer solution, when adding a small amount of acid or alkali, it can keep the concentration of hydrogen ions from changing significantly, and keep the pH value of the system relatively stable
5.Agriculture and animal husbandry:
Sodium bicarbonate can be used for soaking seeds in agriculture, and can also make up for the lack of lysine content in the feed. Sodium bicarbonate can be dissolved in a small amount of water or mixed into the concentrate to feed cattle (add in appropriate amount), which can promote the growth of cattle. It can also significantly increase the milk production of dairy cows
